Bir şeyi işaret ederek "bu / şu / bunlar / şunlar" demek için dört kelime kullanılır: this, that, these, those. İki şeye göre seçim yaparsın: yakın mı uzak mı, ve tekil mi çoğul mu.
"This is my phone." = Bu benim telefonum. (elimde, yakın) "That car is expensive." = Şu araba pahalı. (uzakta)

İki Şekilde Kullanılır
1. Sıfat gibi (isimle birlikte)
Kelime isimden önce gelir:
- This coffee is hot.
- Those shoes are new.
2. Zamir gibi (tek başına)
İsim olmadan, "bu/şu şey" anlamında:
- This is my friend, Kerem.
- That is a good idea.
- These are for you.
Telefonda ve Tanışmada
İngilizcede kendini veya birini tanıtırken this kullanılır:
- (telefonda) "Hello, this is Burak." = Ben Burak. / Burak ben.
- (tanıştırırken) "This is my colleague, Elif."
