Bir şeyin nerede olduğunu söylemek için yer edatları kullanılır: in, on, under, next to ve birkaç tanesi daha. Bunlar İngilizcede ismin önüne gelir — Türkçedeki gibi sona değil.
"The keys are on the table." = Anahtarlar masanın üstünde. "The cat is under the chair." = Kedi sandalyenin altında.

Edat İsimden ÖNCE Gelir
Türkçede "masanın üstünde" derken ek sona gelir. İngilizcede edat isimden önce gelir:
- masanın üstünde → on the table
- sandalyenin altında → under the chair
- evin arkasında → behind the house
